Dark? Kinda. Powerful? No.

Sounds...familiar.
Can't put my finger on it, but I believe ive heard a similar beat before.
You have portrayed your darkness too lightly here...this beat is not as powerful as you make it sound. Not enough bass (at +10 on my system) to rattle my windows.
The over all beat is great, but needs more Oomph.

That is all.

Not my style...BUT!

Flows extremely well, no clipping from any edits.
No static or feedback off mic(s).
Lyrics fit the beat very well.

Respect.

Now, THIS is something different!

Like how you mash multiple things together here. The 16 bit feel, mashed together with a bit of 8 bit. The intro had me thinking it was going to consist of a minor beat. Then along comes everything else. VERY decent piece you have here, and again, I love how you mashed it all together flawlessly. No clipping, or static. One minor flaw, I wish the length of your piece were a bit longer. That is the only downside I could detect with your work.

Three things....

You CAN do your own addition of vocals. Just PRACTICE!

You drag the feel of the original with you in this piece.

Finally, Change up your lines, and give some flare...oh, and one more thing...there's some small clipping every now and then, but you have to listen carefully to catch it. Still, not a bad cover at all. If you can come up with some great lyrics of your own, this would be an epic piece to listen to again.

Boss theme? Not a chance!

This would make for an excellent track in one of them stages where your consistently mobbed by OVER 9000 ( _-_ joke -_- ) enemies! Just fits that style.

Still enjoying this piece and MAYBE I will create a lil tidbit of an 8-bit montage and add this puppy to it in the near future...time will tell!

Nothing to critique, that is all :)

Sky Shark Returns!...oh wait...

This isn't a Sky Shark revision ^_^
Regardless, it takes me back to the times I would bust out the nes just to have a challenge. If you were to play this game on an emulator, you would see where my comparison comes into play. You have done such a great job with this piece, and I do agree with Luxomni. The percussion and bass do "muff" it up just a bit, but that is what I feel makes this an original piece! Props to you!

MashedByMachines responds:

Thanks, I will check out the game you mentioned :D

Two Things...

1) Increase the tempo...this should be on par with the original.
2) Splice and "jitter" your piece at 1:30 - 1:52 for a much added effect! Repeat as needed :)

That is all :)

This...takes...me...soooo far back its not even funny! I used to listen to this track while doing homework back in high school, just for the simple fact I could concentrate! I have now found a piece that will keep my mind at ease while I study for my exams in the future! Respect, 10/10 - downloaded -

Clipping is noticed, and the volume...

Drop your gain just a bit, and decrease the volume by 8% and you should have a perfect piece. Alas, adding a few random sound effects (if allowed) would suit this piece perfectly :)

OcularNebula responds:

Thank you for the review!

yeah, I've heard complaints about clipping, but this is an old track, and I'm not too interested in modifying it. this track could be a lot better with proper editing, but I choose not to look back, and if there's anything to learn from this, I will apply it in my new works!

Needs hidden Star Power!

Brings me back, and makes me wonder about the mythical 121st star that was rumored to be the most difficult star to get! (of course, its just a myth...and a glitch in the 1st edition of the games release...on some cartridges)

How I want to jump on my Wii and toss bowser around like a noob that he is :D
Nothing to critique about this piece. It fits the Bowser mood soo well :)

Shanath responds:

Fighting Bowser is always a lot of fun. Glad you enjoyed it!

Like Metal, Rock, BGM Revisions & Mixes. Comical Flashes, Parody's, and anything that will entertain me. I will critique to the fullest, add some ideas, pointers, and maybe even assist you in creation of high quality projects.
