Three things that you can do in order to make this piece much more "better" as you so calmly put.

1. Your loop is a bit long, but its smooth and fits pretty well.
2. Drums ~ They sound just fine, but consider adding a bit more through out the piece. Sections are nice, but if this is meant to be a drummers melody fitting for a cut-scene in a video game, I would add a little bit more of 'background' drums til your mains kick in.
3. IF you can (and would want to) add a faint mantra in the background to give it even more ambiance.

If these suggestions won't make this piece anymore sexier, I don't know what will!

I await your finished project :D

Mea-Anima responds:

Thanks for your feedback JustShawn.

Where did I write "much more better ? :P" I can hardly believe I did.
And thanks for the three tips. Yeah a mantra is a good idea.
But for me it is very hard to get these ambient ancient sounding samples.
I dont know the plugins for them (maybe you do ?) and with the plugins I do have I have to tweak a LOT in order to get the right sound.

Thanks again,
Cheers,
PotencY

The clap is a little over powering at most. At the least, you kept the chiptune feel but, drug it down to the point where you can get the feel of a higher audio quality...

Who cares really?! It sounds good, feels good, and brings back those memories! Thats what making 8, 16, 32, and 64 bit revisions are about yes?! I though so, and I loved this piece.

nuff said y0 :D

wandschrank responds:

Thanks for your review! :D

The dubstep feel you gave the intro, be it long or short (who cares, its ear tingling!) just gives the build up a general kick in the ass out the side door and onto the main stage! The switch at 1:05 was an interesting take, and the overall feel of this piece just takes me back to my classic Metroid days where I was busy slaughtering kraid...

Ahh...nostalgia...
MORE PLEASE! :D

Pitfall responds:

More comin' up, bro! Also, thank you much!

Brutal is right! Love the strummin' feeling I get from the listen!
Its kind of a shame that you can pick up on the "recorded" side...least that's my opinion
Some of your instruments are a tad low, where as your lead is overpowering (dont know if that was intentional or not) but it still kicks ass!

All that you need now is that evil laugh of robotnik to finish this piece off >=)

Twone responds:

I'll just leave you with a Robotnik quote from the cartoon:

"It warms the cockles of my heart"

PC Version < Sega Gen. Version...Hands Down!
Same could be said with Sonic 3D blast on saturn/pc, just destroyed the classic feel of the genesis :D

Your revision to a favorite of many, does justice to the original.
There is no denying that at all, and those who do...need a fire shield blast to the face :P

Kreyowitz responds:

I wouldn't say the Genesis version was better, but I WILL say that I much more preferred the Genesis version.

As to the Sonic 3D Blast thing, the only thing I liked better for the Saturn version was the music revisions, but i'll still play the Genesis version any day.

Also, thank you, I appreciate the positive criticism, as it makes meh feel good.
:D

Interesting take on Zelda music, as I am soo used to hearing dubstep, metal, techno, and rock remixes of the various Zelda games...

Very mellow, mind easing, and that ever so welcomed nostalgic feeling welcomed by millions of gamers around the world! Why couldn't Nintendo, Sega, and Sony use music like this for our all time favorite games!!!?

Absolutely AMAZING!!!! 10/10 5/5!!!!!

VGSongbird responds:

I wish they would! Then I could make $$ doing what I love!! XD

Epic boss fight? F@#K no! More like an epic mini boss hyped on steroids!!!

Mmmmm them rifts! *drools excessively*

DanJohansen responds:

I would love to see this used for an epic mini boss hyped on steroids XD bwhahaha, glad you dig it man, ROCK AWN!!

Retro-Gamer returns!
LOL! BRiLLiAnT piece you have here, and 80 patters?! Holy hell man, TALENT!
The bridges? Where?! You can't even really pick up on them since everything flows soo smoothly, and the 3 renders you had to execute for the finishing touch shouldn't be a concern at ALL!

2:20 - 2:30 sounded like the GOOD ending from bubble bobble there for a second! (yes, im a hardcore retro gamer... PlayNes ftw :3 )

What I wish you could have done was change up your mainline a little, as the pattern is excessive, but I guess that is what you were aiming for here...and ONE thing that gives this a perfect 5 in my books is how FLAWLESSLY you made it loop! That isn't always easy to do from my understanding.

johnfn responds:

Thanks for the review. I'm not sure how I missed this one. I think you're right about the repetitiveness. I may go back and vary it up a little more :)

I pick up on soo many bgm's from classic 8-bit games its not even funny!!!
Nostalgia anyone?! :D

Septyrikon responds:

I'll take that as a compliment :D I wasn't specifically trying to make it sound like any one song, but I agree that it does have that kind of ''feel'' to it :)

This would fit in soo many RPG catagories its sick!
Great for an intro stage or even title screen!

No clipping, or any of that nastiness from mastering. Great piece!

foxhead128 responds:

Why, thank you.

Like Metal, Rock, BGM Revisions & Mixes. Comical Flashes, Parody's, and anything that will entertain me. I will critique to the fullest, add some ideas, pointers, and maybe even assist you in creation of high quality projects.
